De Schelde bij Veere | Jan Toorop

Johannes Theodorus (Jan) Toorop (Poerworedjo, 20 december 1858 – Den Haag, 3 maart 1928) was one of the most important Dutch artists from the period 1880-1910. At first he painted in an impressionist style, later through the pointillism he developed to be a symbolic painter.
Between 1898 and 1923 Toorop spent his summer holidays in Domburg in the southern province of Zeeland, where he liked to paint in the open air. De schelde bij Veere was created in 1907.

18th floor Castalia

The floor pattern based on De Schelde bij Veere is projected on the 18th floor of Castalia. This is a floor of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, so the painting used here reflects on these themes. This office floor holds open and closed working places, meeting rooms and a lounge for informal meeting.
