King Gaming Headquarters
On the Isle of man, the town of Douglas is characterized by its seaside promenade with Victorian housing, following the curved shape of the bay. Right behind this promenade, a steep slope overgrown with trees rises above the roofscape. A plot on top of the slope will become a new headquarter campus with an office, accommodation buildings and an inspiring outdoor landscape. The stunning location with panoramic views of the horizon is the starting point of the design.
Rising above the trees, the office building reveals an astonishing simplicity. Transparent glass façades with continuous horizontal canopies follow the curved shape of the bay. This embracing gesture creates changing perspectives from within the office floors, VIP spaces and penthouse apartments. A light materialization reflects the local built context, while the horizontality and transparency let the building blend into the fast changing skies.
Creative community
The clear zoning of the office finds a balance between space for collaboration and concentration. The publicly accessible ground floor welcomes visitors and houses a café, restaurant, gym as well as a diversity of co-work spaces. At the heart of the building, an atrium with shifted voids connects the vibrant ground floor with the two office floors and stimulates employees to move through the office. Along the façades the flexible work floors allow for concentrated work. The inspiring campus fosters a creative community.
