Villa Kraayveld
A dark enclosed office building transformed into a bright spacious villa designed by HofmanDujardin. By opening up floors and facades, the abandoned anonymous office spaces turned into a light and generous home. As a result of the integrated landscaping, the boundaries blur between inside and outside. Half sunken into the ground, the original structure consisted of two equal disconnected floors. A new void now connects the two and creates a heart in the centre of the villa. Here, big sliding doors open towards the terrace. By digging out the landscape, the terrace levels with the living room. From the living room to the pool and garden, the new home is composed as one continuous space which enjoys full privacy from its surroundings.
Right in the centre of the void, an upscaled kitchen island connects the dining area to the lounge area. A patio was introduced to make the once dark spaces now flood in daylight. Two new stairs at both ends of the house provide access to the upper floor. While the bedrooms are placed at the more silent side of the villa, the study area is directly connected and overlooks the ground floor through the void.
From the living room to the pool and garden, the new home is composed as one continuous space which enjoys full privacy from its surroundings.
